Twitter – 3 Things You Need to Know

Twitter for Business Growth

Here’s a stat that might surprise you: 75% of business to business marketers are using Twitter. It actually surprised me a bit. I didn’t think it would be quite so high. In fact, it puts Twitter ahead of YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, and Snapchat. Yes, LinkedIn comes in at 81% and Facebook 89%; however, that shouldn’t surprise anyone. That’s right, Facebook is great for B2B marketing. But that’s another article…

Are you tweeting? Maybe not. Here are 3 reasons why you should:

  1. Customer Service/Feedback – I have definitely reached out on Twitter to a brand when I needed help. A bad experience with Budget Rental Cars is a case in point. Yes, I reached out on Facebook too. However, it was on Twitter that I got the response and resolution. Customers will @YourBusiness when they have an issue and a fast appropriate response can turn an upset customer into a vocal fan. When companies respond quickly and resolve issues, the customer is likely to applaud that behavior publicly. Of course, the opposite is also true. Whether you are a large brand or small business, let Twitter be a place where you can positively engage with your customer and increase your brand.
  2. Over 30% of people say they are more likely to recall what they saw on Twitter – compared to browsing online in general. This is good news if you are marketing on Twitter. I believe this may be because people check Twitter often, tweets are short, there are lots of videos and well, sorry to say it, controversy seems to be what many people look for and remember. I remember and talk about what I see on Twitter because people are really, really funny. I find myself laughing out loud at tweets.
  3. Over 70% of Twitter users are getting their news on the platform – I am one of these. I don’t watch TV news anymore or read newspapers online. I go to Twitter and see what’s trending. I follow those news channels and people that I want to see and I search if I want to find something else. Of course, just because it’s on Twitter doesn’t make it true. It does, however, provide a starting point, an outline, if you will.

Using Twitter for your business takes practice, persistence, and patience. You will want to tweet 4-5x per week and engage with others. Follow those that interest you. Retweet what you want to share. Remember to use photos, videos and of course #hashtags. Reach out if you want individualized help with Twitter. Call us 702.720.6560.
