How to Establish Better LinkedIn Connections for Your Business
It is so easy these days to let automation take over everything. We have become so adept at asking Google and Alexa for help. We see numerous paid for social media ads every day. We reach for our phones to text rather than talk and challenge ourselves to put our phones down when face to face with people.
While technology and automation definitely have their place, I want to caution you that making it personal is essential for your business marketing. You probably already know that LinkedIn is the number one social platform for business to business. Here are a few interesting stats from a Hootsuite blog*:
- 50% of Americans with a college degree use LinkedIn
- 45% of LinkedIn users are in upper management
- 91% of executives rank LinkedIn as their 1st choice for professionally relevant content
Make no mistake about it. If you are looking to increase your B2B business, LinkedIn is key. I have written often about having a great LinkedIn profile and how to use LinkedIn. In this article, I want to stress that you do not have to spend money running ads on LinkedIn. (You certainly can and it can get pricey.) On the other hand, you can set aside some time each day to work your LinkedIn Connections and add qualified Connections.
Once you have a Connection to someone you would like to engage further with, send a message that is personal. Look at their profile. Make a comment about something that is relevant to them. Maybe even go to Google and see what comes up for them. Don’t sell; invite them to learn more about your product and/or service. Send a link to calendly.com or whatever calendar vehicle you use.
“Hi John, I am so glad we connected. I see that you are also in Las Vegas. Your profile is quite impressive. I would love to learn more about your pink widget and tell you a little about my LinkedIn Velocity program – we put qualified leads on your calendar. Here is my calendar link for a 15-minute chat. I look forward to speaking with you. Debbie”
It takes time. However, the personal touch will definitely get better results than what appears to be a message that a thousand people probably received. I did mention my LinkedIn program, however not in a pushy way. LinkedIn does work when we remember it’s still about creating relationships and helping each other.
